As per no.1 reliable media personality Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen on a loan deal for Winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi; with deal set to be completed this week.
The 21-year-old has spent his entire footballing career at the club since the age of six and broke into the first team as a teenager under Maurizio Sarri in 2018. But in recent seasons, Hudson-Odoi has often found himself on a peripheries and constantly being linked with a move away.
Bayern Munich infamously had a £70million bid rejected two years ago, but now the Wandsworth-born star is set to link up with another German outfit in the form of Leverkusen. As per Sky Sports, Bayer have won the race to sign Hudson-Odoi on a season-long loan after as many as 20 clubs expressed an interest in earning his signature.
Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the move:
"Bayer Leverkusen are closing on Callum Hudson-Odoi deal. Negotiations set to be completed with Chelsea on loan, after CHO turned down two loan proposals from Premier League. 🔴 #BayerLeverkusen

Callum is yet to feature for Chelsea this year, despite being named to the bench against both Spurs and Leeds (unlike in the season opener against Everton), and the Academy winger was also absent from yesterday’s open training at Stamford Bridge.
Leverkusen finished an impressive third in the Bundesliga last season, but started the new season with three consecutive defeats, scoring just once. They also lost in the Cup at the first hurdle as well. Plenty of chances for some like Hudson-Odoi to impress then, especially with Champions League group stage matches coming up as well.
Hudson-Odoi has two years left on the contract he signed after much drama in 2019, but has not quite lived up to that hype. He is of course still super young, so perhaps a season-long loan will be good for his development.
