'Work hard if you must remain in first team!' — Graham Potter challenges two Chelsea stars.

Graham Potter has challenged two Chelsea stars to work hard if they must replicate their good form.

Graham Potter spoke in glowing terms of Conor Gallagher and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following their goals in our win at Crystal Palace, with the head coach now challenging the pair to continue their good form.

The Blues recorded a first Premier League victory under the tutelage of Potter at the weekend, coming from behind at Selhurst Park to secure all three points thanks to goals from Aubameyang and then a stunning injury-time winner from Gallagher against his former loan side.

Potter was asked by journalists after the victory whether Gallagher could become a regular at Chelsea under him following his successful loan stint with the Eagles last season, with our head coach explaining that having an impact like he did on Saturday will certainly help his case but reiterating that there’s plenty of hard work ahead for him.

‘I hope it’s the start of a very successful Chelsea career for Conor,’ said Potter of the England international midfielder.

‘He’s a young player who did very well at Crystal Palace last season and now it’s another step for him. Like with anything, you have to adapt and the team probably hasn’t performed as well as we could do so far this season in terms of being optimal for each player and playing at our top level.

‘I really like Conor. He’s a fantastic kid, first of all, who trains well every day and he’s desperate to do well, he’s desperate to play for Chelsea and he’s desperate to be successful here. So that’s a great starting point..

‘Now it’s about finding the right balance for him to be in the team and for the players on the pitch to play to their optimal level on a regular basis. Regarding Conor as a person though, he’s absolutely top.’

Aubameyang started the comeback in south London with a typically instinctive finish, letting the ball roll across his body before drilling low into the bottom corner on the turn.

It was his first in Chelsea blue since his deadline day switch from Barcelona and our head coach has praised the impact and professionalism of the Gabon international since arriving at the club..

‘Yes, a finish of that stature is a sign of a top striker and it’s certainly handy to have!’ Potter said of Aubameyang’s goal.

‘Goals can help you at any time of the game and being 1-0 down, we needed something. It was an equalising goal at an important time and it helped us on the way to a good three points.

‘Auba has been working hard. He’s had a difficult summer, for different reasons, and he’s had quite a traumatic experience I think.

‘I’ve said previously and I’ll say it again, the way he’s handled himself in my experience has been excellent and I’m really happy that he’s got a goal and contributed to a win for the team.’

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
