Graham Potter breaks three-year managerial record with Crystal Palace win.
Chelsea boss, Graham Potter has set a new Managerial record following the Blues' 2-1 win against Palace at Selhurst Park.
Graham Potter earned his first win as Chelsea manager after Conor Gallagher returned to haunt Crystal Palace with the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Potter was taking charge of Chelsea for just the second time since replacing the sacked Thomas Tuchel in September.
The former Brighton boss had overseen a 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg in the Champions League and was seconds away from another frustrating result until England midfielder Gallagher rode to the rescue.
Odsonne Edouard had put Palace ahead early on before former Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised with his first goal for Chelsea late in the first half.
That set the stage for Gallagher to come off the bench and win it for Chelsea deep into stoppage-time, in the process breaking the hearts of the team he played for on loan for the whole of last season.
With this iconic win, Graham Potter has now won more Premier League games against Crystal Palace as Chelsea Manager (1/1) than he did in three years since appointed Brighton coach in 2019.

London Derby > M23 Derby. 😉
Speaking on his first win as Chelsea coach, Graham Potter said:
"On a personal level, it's nice to get the first win under the belt. I’m really pleased for the players because the pattern has been starting well away from home and then conceding and not getting the three points or any points.
“Pressure and expectation are increased because of Chelsea’s standing in the football hierarchy. That’s what it is. But that’s why I took the challenge and why I am here. Regardless of what you guys ask me and the narrative that comes from you, I tend to focus on the job I have, which is working with the players, helping them improve and helping them win. Thankfully, I’ve got off to a decent start but I know there is a long way ahead.”
Potter was also full of praise for Kepa Arrizabalaga's performance despite conceding a goal:
“I thought he (Kepa) did really well. He made a couple of big saves but also, his distribution in terms of his decision-making was really strong,” Potter said, as quoted by Football London.
“You need players to step up and perform and Kepa did that today. So I am really happy for him.”
