Diego Costa fires hot warning to Chelsea ahead of Wolves clash.

Diego Costa sends 'hot blood' warning to Chelsea amid Stamford Bridge return.

Diego Costa will make his return to Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Wolves make the trip to west London. Former Chelsea striker Costa signed for Wolves last month and could make his first start for his new club at the ground where he enjoyed so much success.

The 34-year-old became a cult hero at Stamford Bridge during his three-year spell at the club, scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances and winning two Premier League titles and a League Cup. Finding himself without a club at the beginning of this season, Wolves brought him back to England after their striker Sasa Kalajdzic suffered a season-ending injury on his debut.

Costa made his debut for his new club against West Ham United last weekend, coming off the bench in a 2-0 loss at the London Stadium. The game proved to be Bruno Lage's last as Wolves boss, and interim manager Steve Davis has a big decision to make as to whether he unleashes Costa from the start tomorrow.

"In his words, he's got 'very hot blood', so read into that what you want," Davis said ahead of the game via Birmingham Live. "He's a great character to have around. He's lifted the group.

"We've only really got to know him this week. He's been a breath of fresh air for us in terms of getting the squad together, getting everyone really close and keeping high spirits. He's a very talented player as well. He still has some talent there in his legs."

During his time at Chelsea, Costa struck fear into opposition defences with his power and goalscoring prowess. Wolves have only scored three goals all season, but Davis is hopeful that Costa can bite the hand that used to feed him.

"We're fearful of him, never mind Chelsea!" he joked. "We hope that with it being Chelsea this week - and it's his birthday today as well - it's a big weekend for him.

"We've had to look after him. He wants more than we've given him. We've had to be quite strong with that in terms of where he is with his fitness. He will play a part in the game tomorrow, and we're hoping he can make a major difference as the target player we've missed."

Costa scored 52 goals in 89 Premier League appearances for Chelsea during a trophy-laden three-year spell. The striker won league titles under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte before making a dramatic return to Atletico Madrid in 2017.

His only competitive minutes in 2022 came at West Ham, with Costa going nine months without football after leaving Atletico Mineiro in January. Should Chelsea still be fearful of Costa?

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
