Chelsea in pole position to sign €35m-rated Algeria international.

Graham Potter wants to add Liverpool target Ismael Bennacer from Milan in the winter transfer window. The English manager has personally targeted Algeria international. The Rossoneri are in negotiations with Bennacer over a new contract and will not sell him for anything less than €40-50m. Interestingly, Chelsea's PL rivals, Liverpool have also been linked with Ismael. Liverpool have offered the 24-year-old midfielder an annual salary of €4m. The Algerian midfielder would find it hard to make a pick between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are big teams and global brands who regularly win big trophies and challenge for major honours. The Reds and the Blues have competitive midfield departments, and the Algerian would have to work hard to get into the team at Liverpool or at Chelsea.

The African midfielder has been on the books of the Rossoneri since 2019 and helped Milan win the Serie A title last campaign. The former Empoli midfielder has scored one goal in seven Serie A games and has played twice in the UCL for the Rossoneri so far this campaign.

Having joined Milan from Empoli in the summer of 2019, Ismael has mostly been deployed in the number six position. In the previous season, Milan saw success as they won the Scudetto after an 11-year gap. The Algerian midfielder was pivotal in the Rossoneri’s success last campaign.
