£120,000 per week Chelsea midfielder rejects new contract, wants 25% salary increase.

The Chelsea midfielder wants a salary increase of £150,000 per week.

Chelsea star Jorginho has rejected the club’s latest contract proposal and is instead seeking a salary increase of around 25%.

The Italian is out of contract at the end of the season and he’s received interest from Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan.

The midfielder joined the club from Napoli in a £52m deal in 2018, rejecting a move to Manchester City in the process.

The 30-year-old is vice-captain at Stamford Bridge and after a difficult start, he’s now a fans’ favourite at the club.

But while Chelsea are keen to keep the Italian, the club have only offered the midfielder an extension of his current deal – meaning Jorginho would remain on the same salary.

According to the Evening Standard, those terms are not good enough for the Italian and he wants an improved deal like the one Cesar Azpilicueta recently signed. The Spaniard recieved improved terms to put him on around £150,000-a-week, which is what Jorginho is seeking.

Chelsea are keen to tie Jorginho down before January 1st, when he’ll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs. It comes with N’Golo Kante in a similar situation to the Italian.

The Frenchman rejected Chelsea’s last offer, with the midfielder seeking a three-year deal rather than the two-year proposal the club made to him.

However, Chelsea are concerned by Kante’s injury problems and they want the 30-year-old to take that into account.

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
