The Arsenal Legend also hopes Aubameyang doesn't score up to 20 goals a season, so Chelsea do not 'go up the League.'

Per Metro, Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn admits he ‘hopes’ Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang struggles at Chelsea.

Ex-Gunners captain Aubameyang joined Chelsea in a £10.3m deal from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.

The Gabon striker made his Chelsea debut in Thomas Tuchel’s final game in charge of the club, a 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Aubameyang also started Chelsea’s first game under new manager Graham Potter, a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg.

The 33-year-old scored 92 goals in 163 games during his five-year spell at Arsenal but was effectively exiled by Mikel Arteta before he left to join Barcelona at the start of the year.

On Aubameyang’s move to Stamford Bridge, Arsenal hero Winterburn told Free Super Tips: ‘It didn’t surprise me if I’m honest.

‘Listen there was issues at Arsenal, they let him go and all of a sudden, he’s moved back to the Premier League.

‘Whether he was surplus to requirements or he didn’t think he would get enough game time at Barcelona, who knows.

‘They might have needed to free up space for other players, so here he is at Chelsea back in the Premier League.

‘He came back to a manager he’s played under before, so it made sense, but unfortunately that manager has now gone. It’s just a case of clean slate and go again.

‘He had a good period at Arsenal, but it went sour towards the end, but he’s got to try and rebuild himself at Chelsea who have had an interesting start to the season.

‘It’ll be a case of can Aubameyang get himself back to the striker he was at Arsenal where he was getting 20 Premier League goals a season.

‘That’s what he will want and what Chelsea will want, obviously from my point of view I hope that doesn’t happen because it means they’ll be moving up the league.

‘He’s got a new manager to impress, he’s got this injury to shake off fully which could play on the back of his mind.

‘We all know what he’s capable of on the pitch, but as we know you may have to juggle the other side of it to make sure he fits into all of the managers plans.’

Following the international break, Chelsea return to Premier League action with a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
