"My honest conversation with the new owners convinced me to remain at Chelsea." - Chelsea star reveals.

The Chelsea star has reiterated his desire to stay committed to Chelsea.

Chelsea skipper, Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed why he decided to remain at Chelsea, including the honest conversation he had with Todd Boehly and the new Chelsea-led consortium that convinced him to stay.

Azpilicueta: I wanted to stay committed to Chelsea.

Recall, Azpilicueta had been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona, with Chelsea already looking to find his replacement but the Spaniard recently signed a new two-year contract to extend his stay in west London, a deal which will see him surpass over a decade of service to the club.

While admitting there were multiple factors he had to take into consideration before making a final decision, the defender says his desire to continue his loyalty and commitment to Chelsea was one of the overriding reasons.

Speaking after Chelsea's win against Everton, Azpilicueta said:

‘I’m really happy to sign the new contract,

'The last few months have been a little crazy but I’m really happy to extend my stay here. It’s a new project and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.

‘It was quite a rare situation in the sense that I was coming out of contract and then the club were sanctioned in March, so nothing could be done at that time with regards to speaking about an extension, so it was difficult.

‘Everybody can speak a lot about your name [in the media] but the actions I think speak louder. I stayed committed to my club, I played the games as best as I could even though I didn’t know what was going to happen."

Azpilicueta also reiterated that his honest conversations with the new Chelsea owners convinced him to stay:

"I really want to thank the owners because they were very good with me. From day one, the conversations we had were honest and transparent. They told me that they valued me and wanted me to lead this club and these players, on and off the pitch.

‘We had a very honest conversation and I decided that I was right to stay home here at Chelsea.

"Everything happened, we had some really good conversations with the manager and the owners. I’m the captain of this club and I wanted to stay committed to Chelsea.

‘The conversations we had will remain private, but we had some really good communications, we said what we thought and then I realised that I wanted to continue to help my club,’ the defender told Chelsea's official website.

No doubt, Cesar Azpilicueta's decision to remain at Chelsea will bring more experience and quality to the Chelsea team.

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
