Kalidou Koulibaly has equalled an all-time record set by Chelsea Legend, Michael Essien, 16 years ago at the club.
Koulibaly scored the opener in Chelsea's 2-2 win against Tottenham at the Bridge on Sunday after a superb assist from Marc Cucurella - no doubt a perfect home debut for the duo.
By scoring, Koulibaly has become just the second Chelsea player to net his first league goal in a game against Tottenham, a record long held by Michael Essien since 2006. Essien had scored his maiden topflight goal against the Blues’ North London rivals in 2006 and that record had stood for 16 years.
"1 - Kalidou Koulibaly is the first player to score his first Premier League goal for Chelsea in a game against Spurs since Michael Essien in March 2006. Tekkers."
Meanwhile, Koulibaly expressed his delight on scoring his first Chelsea goal:
"I was feeling amazing to score with my second shot at Stamford Bridge, it was really beautiful. I didn’t expect it but I was really happy to do it in front of our supporters,
"It was an amazing atmosphere and when everybody shouted my name I was really happy and I hope it will not be the last time, I want to feel this the next time." Koulibaly said as per Football.London.
