The Blues will be back to Premier League action on Sunday, against Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
πππππ ππππ ππππ: Thomas Tuchel will be without two key players, Marcos Alonso, and Mateo Kovacic with the former out of training to foster move to Barcelona, and the latter due to knee injury.
Speaking in his pre-match briefing ahead of Spurs, Tuchel confirmed their absence:
"He (Alonso) is not in training at the moment and trying to finalise his transfer so he will not be available for the game,” Tuchel told the club's official website.
“It’s the same for Kova, who is injured. He has issues with his knee, always a little bit of a reaction. We decided to take a step back and increase treatment time to reduce the stress that comes from training to have a normal reaction before we start again."
Apart from the duo, Chelsea have a fully fit squad to face Antonio Conte's Tottenham:
"Everybody else is available.” Tuchel added.
ππππ πππππππππ: Chelsea are likely to use a very similar lineup to the one that won 1-0 at Goodison Park last Saturday; one that also saw Kovacic out of the starting XI (but benched), including Marcos Alonso.
Big decision will be around Ben Chilwell’s fitness and whether to continue using him, despite his ongoing recovery from a major knee injury.
Marc Cucurella could be in line for his first start and home debut in west London.
Based on excellent run in pre-season, and in his official debut with Tuchel hinting on starting him against Spurs, Raheem Sterling could be in line for his official home debut as well, including the ever-solid Koulibaly.
New signing, Carney Chukwuemeka could hopefully get some minutes from the bench.
πππππππππ ππππππ: Here's how we think Chelsea could lineup to face Tottenham:
Mendy; Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly; James, Kante, Jorginho, Cucurella; Mount, Havertz, Sterling
Substitutes: Kepa, Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher, Ziyech, Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Carney Chukwuemeka.
