Chelsea player ratings vs Leeds United; only one player impressed.

Chelsea were held to a humiliating 3-0 defeat this afternoon against Leeds United. The Blues saw goals from defensive mistakes deny them of all three points, including a red card to Koulibaly.

We'll take a look at how each player performed as per Football.London, and Independent sources:

Edouard Mendy - Having had a confident opening 30 minutes, Chelsea's goalkeeper kept hold of the ball too long near Brendan Aaronson, and a poor touch saw the American nip in for an easy finish. Could not be faulted for the following goals but the first set the tone for the afternoon. 5/10 🌟

Reece James - Should have tracked Rodrigo's run better as Leeds netted their second goal. He added more when he returned to the right flank in the second half. However,  4/10 🌟

Thiago Silva - The Brazilian was not among the worst performers but could do little when exposed against a Leeds attack in full flow. However, he was solid. 7/10 🌟

Kalidou Koulibaly - The Senegal international got a very early booking when he held Brenden Aaronson's shirt after the American winger left him for dead. Should have done much better to attempt to win the header that saw Jack Harrison finish in the second period. Ultimately sent off after picking up a second yellow card when he hurled down Joe Gelhardt.  3/10 🌟

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - Like many of his teammates, Loftus-Cheek was perhaps too wasteful in possession in the opening half and much improved when he was allowed to play in midfield in the second. He was given the difficult task of being the only midfielder on the pitch as the game wore on, however. 5/10 🌟

Jorginho - A difficult afternoon for the Italian, who was constantly under pressure and outnumbered by the opposition midfield in the opening half. Perhaps one of the calmer heads in the opening 45 minutes but struggled for any accuracy with his passing. 4/10 🌟

Conor Gallagher - Had a similarly tough afternoon as his midfield teammate, and while the former Crystal Palace loanee showed flashes of his ability driving forwards, he simply lost the ball too often. Looked more confident when in a midfield three during the second period. 4/10. 🌟

Marc Cucurella - One of Chelsea's more solid performers on a difficult afternoon but lacked an incisive touch in the opposition third. 5/10 🌟

Mason Mount - Struggled to find himself in the game early on before showing good ability to carry the ball against the well-stocked Leeds backline to win a corner. The England international looked to have a job to do on Marc Roca at the base of the home side's midfield. Ultimately struggled to get involved and allowed Jack Harrison to ghost in unchallenged to net Leeds' third. 4/10 🌟

Kai Havertz - The German forward was fairly anonymous in the opening half and provided little threat to the Leeds backline. He helped connect the play more frequently in the second, but his block of Hakim Ziyech's shot perhaps summed up the afternoon well. 4/10 🌟

Raheem Sterling - The former Man City man spurned an early chance to put the Blues ahead but couldn't keep his shot on target, and when he did put the ball in the back of the net, the offside flag was raised. Chelsea could not get Sterling involved in the game often enough. 5/10 🌟

Christian Pulisic - Showed some drive to try and create something from the centre of the pitch but was unable to do so. 6/10 🌟

Hakim Ziyech - Like Pulisic, found himself in a deeper role than he is accustomed to. Like his teammates, he saw little success going forward but played okay given the situation. 6/10 🌟

Ben Chilwell - Solid but did not make too much of an impression in Chelsea's struggles. 6/10 🌟

Cesar Azpilicueta - Filled in for Koulibaly following his red card. Little time to make much of an impression. 6/10 🌟.

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
