Chelsea eye £100m deal for RB Leipzig star

Chelsea are yet again, considering a move for 24-year old France and RB Leipzig midfielder/forward, Christopher Nkunku, although the deal is being eyed for next summer.

Leipzig striker Nkunku may have signed a new contract this summer but he tops Chelsea’s shortlist of targets to bolster their attack in 2023 as per the Telegraph.

Chelsea are in the search for a long term attacking option, despite being in hot pursuit for Aubameyang. If signed, Aubameyang would lead the line this season before potentially transitioning to more of a squad role next year and beyond; considering his age.

Nkunku 24, played in a variety of attacking positions at Leipzig last year, though finished the season either at centre-forward or second striker.

Regardless, Nkunku was potent, plundering 35 goals and 20 assists in an incredible breakthrough campaign.

Nkunku is not available this summer having only signed a contract extension in June. However, his new deal reportedly contains a bargain £51m release clause that activates next summer.

Christopher Nkunku is valued at £100M

Alternative targets include AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic. The latter will be available as a free agent in 2023, meaning his addition could come as well as, not instead of a more high profile target.

What do you make of this move for Nkunku, Blues?

Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.

OPINION: Graham Potter has succeeded in these three areas where Tuchel failed.  The Blues were back in Premier League action on Saturday, and had sealed a 3-0 victory over Wolves at the Bridge.  The game had seen goals come from the Blues' attacking options, something which had rarely been seen in the Tuchel era.  Not just that, there were noticeable changes and improvement in team set up that were not seen under the former German Boss. All of which will be highlighted below.  Firstly, the handing of debut to Chelsea's signing, Carney Chukwuemeka. Graham Potter's choice to hand one of his starlets a debut demonstrates the trust that he has in the young players at Stamford Bridge that can help him through a tricky run. It's harder than it seems to just trust the youth though.  Tuchel struggled to fully implement the pathway desired and was always focused on the here and now, the short term. He felt warmth with experience. Potter already looks to have brough...
